Measuring the Bandwith Between Two Hosts
To measure the raw bandwidth between two Linux, Unix, or FreeBSD hosts, try using bing. Stands for bandwith ping. And it's French!
The two hosts don't need to include localhost, by the way, although they need to be two hosts on the same route (say from your router to an internet host, or from your ISP's gateway to an internet host).
Why do I always want to spell bandwith as bandwitch? Must be hungry... a grilled megabit bandwitch sounds good.
